For over 25 years I used my accumulated business knowledge to guide veterinarians in molding their practices into whatever they wanted it to be. Speaking, writing, consulting, and preparing valuations of veterinary practices were my life's work and I loved it! In 2006 my business partner, Denise Tumblin, and I decided to offer another level of veterinary management services and formed WMPG, the Well-Managed Practice Veterinary Groups. Each Group is made up of 20 well-managed practices from across the country with the stated goal of learning from each other by sharing management successes, management challenges, financial information, and strategies for successfully implementing new management ideas. These Groups work so well because they combine the knowledge and experience of WTA with the knowledge and experience of each veterinary practice owner. The WMPGs truly are think tanks for new ideas for themselves and for the profession. I've been fortunate to have found a 'second life's work' that I thoroughly enjoy. I know it has everything to do with the wonderful veterinarians that I am fortunate to count as co-workers and friends. On a personal note: My husband Robin is the Vice President of WildEarth Guardians and works to protect the area's wildlife and wildlands. We share a deep concern for animals and their environment. We share our ranch in Colorado with our dear Larz (pictured), Sunshine the cat, and an array of wild turkeys, deer, elk, coyotes, red fox, bobcats, bald eagles, prairie dogs, and an occasional black bear. It's a wonderful life! |
